Spatiotemporal Data Modelling and Management: a Survey
نویسندگان
چکیده
Many data objects in the real world have attributes about location and time. Such spatiotemporal objects can be found in applications such as Geographic Information Systems (CIS), environmental data management and multimedia databases. Traditional relational database technology is not suitable for managing spatiotemporal data, which are multi-dimensional with complex structures and behaviours. Spatiotemporal data can only be managed by new generation of data management technologies such as object-oriented and object-relational databases. In this paper, we present a comprehensive survey covering aspects from fundamental user requirements for spatiotemporal applications, spatiotemporal object modelling, object storage structures and techniques for manipulation of spatiotemporal objects such as multidimensional indexing, data structures, query evaluation strategies and architectures for Spatiotemporal Database Management Systems.

A comparison between the Kazerun (Iran) and the North Anatolian (Turkey) fault systems in fault interaction and seismicity migration based on the spatiotemporal analysis of earthquakes
The Kazerun Fault System (KFS) is a right-lateral strike slip fault system in the middle part of the Zagros seismogenic zone in Iran. Historical and instrumental earthquake data catalogs of this fault system show good evidence of fault interactions and seismic migrations. This study provides evidence for the migration of seismicity in the middle part of the Zagros region along the segments of t...

متن کاملSPATIOTEMPORAL DYNAMIC OF TOXIN PRODUCING PHYTOPLANKTON (TPP)-ZOOPLANKTON INTERACTION
The present paper deals with a toxin producing phytoplankton (TPP)-zooplankton interaction in spatial environment in thecontext of phytoplankton bloom. In the absence of diffusion the stability of the given system in terms of co-existence and hopf bifurcation has been discussed. After that TPP-zooplankton interaction is considered in spatiotemporal domain by assuming self diffusion in both popu...
متن کاملSpatiotemporal Data Mining: A Computational Perspective
Explosive growth in geospatial and temporal data as well as the emergence of new technologies emphasize the need for automated discovery of spatiotemporal knowledge. Spatiotemporal data mining studies the process of discovering interesting and previously unknown, but potentially useful patterns from large spatiotemporal databases. It has broad application domains including ecology and environme...
